The Creative Desire

Taking birth and being nurtured in a highly educated, disciplined, cultured and a decent family, and that too in a remote area of Bihar, India, has been a real bliss for me. My father, Late Prof. Shaileshwar Prasad Varma, a well studied professor of English Language and Literature, inculcated in me the clamour for maintaining decency in the language, while my mother, Prema Varma, a truly dedicated house wife taught me various etiquettes and showed to me means to develop my personality. That I could step out with firm commitment, facing various odds of life, has only been the outcome of a good training on the part of my parents and all emotional support from my siblings. It is they who spotted the spark in me and encouraged to exploit the hidden talent – my natural inclination towards sketching and painting, which I had right from my childhood days. This passion for painting and sketching has given me immense emotional and psychological satisfaction, and boosted my spirit saying, “Yes, you can bring difference.” Though being a software professional, pursuing arthas never been a comfortable journey for me, yet, with the active support from my family and my friends, I have succeeded in bringing for myself a recognition that I could be proud of.

As a painter, I have always been fascinated towards the intricacy and vivid colour combination that Madhubani Art can provide to the artists and the viewers both. Originating from Madhubani District of Mithila Region of Bihar in India, Madhubani art or Mithila art has now spread to virtually all parts of the world attracting all the fine art lovers. As an artist, my spiritual communion with Madhubani Art has forced me to organize various training sessions both in India and US, where young budding talents have been taught with the initial know-how of the art. I even organized a couple of Art Exhibitions too, where I was immensely encouraged and supported by a good number of visitors. Majority of my paintings caught the attention of buyers too, and they did not hesitate in straight away purchasing them without any bargain. I was really awestruck seeing the interest of those visitors, and felt being duly recognized as an artist. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my well-wishers, my family, and my friends to have always stood by me during this ever challenging endeavour of mine, and hope that this support of yours continues.
